Bachelor's Thesis
Generating energy for sensor nodes in aircrafts
The goal of the proposed bachelor thesis or project is to investigate options how to power sensor nodes from the aircraft power supply for a low price and weight, still conforming to DO-160. The key to the solution is the low average power consumption of sensor nodes. This enables approaches having a bad efficiency or that cannot provide more power for physical reasons. Thus, a possible approach is designing a simplified power supply circuit providing the robustness required by DO-160 by allowing bad efficiency. Other approaches may generate energy wirelessly from available alternating magnetic or electric fields originating for current-carrying cables or coils. Alternatively leakage currents from other systems or cables may be used.
| Prerequisites | Good knowledge in electrical engineering and some knowledge in circuit design. Independent working style and ability to find own ideas. Before starting the thesis, the student has to explain a first idea of a suitable approach and the amount of energy it is expected to provide. |
